OTHER CONDITIONS WE TREAT

We treat a wide variety of eye conditions, including those that don’t fall within your typical categories. Here are other miscellaneous eye conditions that we treat to enhance your eye health and vision.

Lid Abnormalities

What are Lid Abnormalities?

Lid abnormalities are conditions that affect the eyelids, including droopy eyelids (ptosis), eyelids turned inward (entropion), and eyelids turned outward (ectropion). These conditions can cause discomfort, visual disturbances, and aesthetic concerns.

How are Lid Abnormalities Treated?

Treatment depends on the specific lid abnormality and typically includes surgery to repair and reposition the eyelid.

Dry Eyes

What is Dry Eyes?

Tears are important for the health and comfort of your eyes. Every time you blink, a thin film of tears is swept across the surface of your eye. If you suffer from dry eyes, you do not have enough tears to keep your eyes comfortable. Dry Eye can be the result of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD).

This may mean you do not produce enough tears to keep the surface of your eyes moist, or the tears do not stay on your eye long enough.

Dry Eye has no cure, but its symptoms can be managed. The symptoms include:

  • Stinging/burning sensation
  • Gritty feeling (often like having sand in the eyes)
  • Light sensitivity
  • Redness
  • Itchiness
  • Fluctuations in vision that clear with blinking

How is Dry Eyes Treated?

Treatment options include the LipiFlow® procedure which stimulates the meibomian glands with heat and gentle pressure, massaging any blockages and liquefying any obstructions.

Diplopia/Strabismus

What is Diplopia/Strabismus?

Diplopia (AKA double vision) can happen when eyes are misaligned and turned inward or outward: a condition known as strabismus.

How is Diplopia/Strabismus Treated?

Treatment options may include lenses, eye exercises or surgery to reposition the eye muscles.

Significant Dry Eye

What is Significant Dry Eye?

Significant dry eye happens when the eyes don’t produce enough tears or when the tears evaporate too quickly, which leads to dryness, irritation, and discomfort.

How is Significant Dry Eye Treated?

Treatment options for dry eye include eye drops, medications and surgical procedures.

Eyelid Skin Cancer

What is Eyelid Skin Cancer?

Eyelid skin cancer can affect the eyelids and surrounding areas and is often caused by sun exposure.

How is Eyelid Skin Cancer Treated?

Treatment options for eyelid skin cancer include surgical removal of the cancerous tissue, surgery and/or reconstruction.
